Each month I will be providing an oversight on what is happening in the market in relation to:

  • The employment market as a whole
  • Specifically, across the HR disciplines in NZ
  • Current trends and the hot spots to migrate to or to avoid
  • And generally anything you would like to see covered by myself or a guest contributor ….. I’m always happy to ask!

Please drop me a line if there is a subject you would like to see covered regularly; we are HR people serving HR people.

Equally, if you would like to contribute to this insights section, please let me know as it will be lovely to get diverse topics covered.

July 2020 edition

Covid continues to cause havoc throughout the world and of course is fundamental to supply and demand in NZ.

Immigration and border restrictions are also contributing to how recruitment and human capital management is being shaped.  Despite the clear issues we are facing, organisations are riding the wave of uncertainty really well by increased use of interim resources allowing the HR flexible workforce to meet the peaks and troughs in workflows.

We have seen substantial increases in the need for HR Generalist and Consultants over the last 3 months primarily to support small and medium businesses.  As expected, those specialising in industrial and employment relations have been in high demand particularly in the Wellington Region.

In the spotlight: Organisational Development

Average salary is $117k and annual salary growth indicates 17% year on year.

Shortages within Wellington, Christchurch and some regional spots.
